The Rake (2018)

Ben and Ashley, brother and sister, reunite 20 years after the murder of their parents to face the cause of their parents' death, a supernatural creature known as The Rake

REVIEW: The acting is atrocious in The Rake, very very amateurish, and even though it has a really awesome, genuinely creepy opening scene, after that it takes forever for anything of note to really happen, and we have to spend that time with all these uninteresting, unlikable, badly-acted throw away characters.


However, once you tough it out through all that, the last 30 minutes is actually pretty great. It's creepy as hell, far more gory than I expected, and a really awesome creature, plus all of that - from the creature itself to the high level of gore - is all done with practical effects that really work well and look fantastic. It's just a shame that most everything leading up to that stuff is a real hard slog to get through.

A married couple retreat to a weekend getaway house in the countryside to give their crumbling marriage one last chance, but the vacation turns into a nightmare when they discover that a spirit is violently haunting the property and that it's tied into a deep, dark secret that one of them has been hiding. REVIEW: Raaz is a Bollywood horror movie from the early 2000s, although with the poor quality of the video you would think that it's from much earlier then that. On the flip side however, that made the movie feel older, thus it added a bit of atmosphere to the creepy scenes, making them that much more creepier. And let me tell you, since this movie is almost three hours long (as is par for the course for a Bollywood movie), there is plenty of creepy, scary, spine-tingling atmospheric scenes to be found here. Immortal half-vampire/half-human vampire slayer Rayne takes her war against the Vampires into World War II, where she must stop a recently-turned Nazi commander from creating an army of Nazi Vampires for Hitler. REVIEW: Well better late then never, but finally here's my review of the third Uwe Boll BloodRayne epic, BloodRayne: The Third Reich. It's interesting to note that these movies, along with the In the Name of the King trilogy, are some of his more successful film franchises with three films each. Some others, such as Alone in the Dark, Seed, and Rampage, got at least one sequel but these two franchises got three each.  I may be putting myself before the firing squad here, but I'm actually a bit of a Uwe Boll fan myself, even though I can admit there's probably no reason why I should like them, considering they are in no shape, way, or form good movies, but admittedly they're pretty fun for me to watch. REVIEW: Raaz Reboot is the fourth entry in a long-running Bollywood horror franchise, of which I've reviewed the first three already here , here , and here . A Dhampir named Rayne continues her ageless war against the vampires, this time in the wild west where she takes on a vampiric Billy the Kid. REVIEW:  BloodRayne is a trilogy of films that I actually kind of like from Uwe Boll. I've seen each of them at least once and, to be honest,. I'm not even entirely sure why I like them. Technically Boll has never made an actual *good* movie, but at least there seems to be a fan base for them, however small, and I know I personally can have fun with some of his Video Game adaptations like this series and In the Name of the King series. There is a new species occupying the ocean: the 5-Headed Shark is all heads and teeth. Shaped like a demented starfish, this monster terrorizes the open ocean before invading the beaches of Puerto Rico, endangering a once peaceful beach-side paradise.  REVIEW: The first two movies in this series, 2-Headed Shark Attack and 3-Headed Shark Attack are among my top favorite Asylum movies. Unfortunately, 5-Headed Shark Attack was a huge step down. The first two movies were each pretty unique and did some good stuff to set themselves out from the hundreds (or close to it) of other SyFy Channel/Asylum shark movies. They were the first to go the multi-headed route, they had pretty good plots, used interesting locations (a small island atoll and a research station in the ocean), and they actually had some decent plot twists and unexpected deaths. REVIEW BY: Jeffrey Long COMPANY: The Asylum RUNTIME: 90 mins FORMAT: Itunes PLOT: A group of complete strangers find themselves isolated by a wealthy madman on his island compound. They are forced into a horrifying gauntlet where they must survive a barrage of ever-deadlier species of shark. REVIEW: Even though I've gone on multiple triads over the last year about how sick I am of shark movies, there's still been some really good ones that came out this year ( 2-Headed Shark Attack and Jersey Shore Shark Attack being chief among them). Review: The Dyatlov Pass Incident (Or simply Devil's Pass as it's been renamed in America according to IMDB ) is a fictional movie using real events for its backdrop. The real life event known as The Dyatlov Pass Incident is quite possibly one of the most spine-tingling, creepy, horrifying, and mysterious incidents to plaque the Fortean world, and to top it all off it still remains 100% completely unsolved to this very day.
