Fans flock to a festival celebrating the most iconic horror movies, only to discover that the charismatic showman behind the event has a diabolical agenda. REVIEW: As a huge fan of the Halloween franchise since I first started getting into horror in the late 90s, I was looking forward to this revival movie. Sure, I may find the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and Friday the 13th movies more ' fun' , but Halloween was always my personal favorite horror franchise as a teen. I knew I wasn't going to be overly disappointed because, quite simply, even with a worst-case scenario there was no way it could be as bad as some of the worst entries in the series previously (Halloween: Resurrection and Rob Zombie's Halloween II), and even those ones I managed to find some redeeming qualities. A harmless game of Truth or Dare among friends turns deadly when something supernatural begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse the dare.  REVIEW: I quite honestly don't have really anything to say on Truth or Dare, the latest teen-aimed horror flick by Blumhouse. This truly is one stupid ass, silly, laughable movie. But god damnit I had fun. It’s nothing I’d recommend to a serious horror fan above the age of 14, and it’s filled to the brim with laughably bad moments, but it held my attention for the entire runtime, and it actually used some legitimately interesting ideas at times, including some moments that will remind any horror fan worth a damn of the Final Destination movies, which is always a fun time for me.  If action movies can have a sub-classification of ‘silly mindless popcorn summer movie’, this is exactly what the horror version of that would be. REVIEW: So I figured for Halloween this year I wanted to do up a review for one of the creepiest movies I've seen in a long time, and it didn't take me long to realize that the movie I'd pick would be Banshee Chapter as it is, without a doubt, one of the scariest, most tense horror movies I've seen in years.  It's filmed partially Found Footage style during moments, but mostly it's done in the traditional regular style. A movie such as this would never find its way to a wide theatrical release and if it was just even ten years ago it probably would have never even been made at all. But Itunes, Vudu, and all those style of Pay-to-Watch platforms provide an amazing VOD outlet for great low budget genre titles like this to premiere at and find a home on. It was supposed to be an adventure of a lifetime as three young girls spend the summer in Thailand. But their adventure quickly becomes a nightmare when the trio unleashes the spirit of a murdered child with only one thing on her mind - revenge.   Originally due out in 2014 but still not yet released, Pernicious is a movie I've been waiting a long, long time to check out. While it's not made by The Asylum, it does have Asylum-Regular James Cullen Bressack writing and directing it. Bressack is responsible for a couple other Asylum movies I've got reviews for on here, 13/13/13 and Blood Lake , both of which I may not have thought were great by any means, but still enjoyable. And considering my love for Asylum, anybody that does work for them has my undying loyalty for all future projects. A single dad cop in a small town and his female partner are called to the scene of the death of a mean recluse. Shortly after, a number of bizarre deaths around town begin to occur at the hands of a big supernatural disfigured monster that is actually a demonic form of Cain, of Cain and Abel of the bible, who has needed a "brother" to be his keeper ever since he killed Abel, and now that his previous keeper has died, he's free to search for someone worthy of being his new "brother". Like with 2011 , 2012 , and then 2013 this is my Annual list of my personal favorite B-Movie releases of the last year. There is still plenty of movies from this past year that I haven't yet seen, so it's possible I've potentially skipped over a few diamonds in the rough due to that, since this list is based off what I've actually watched myself. Also, this list is solely based off what has hit home video formats and Video On Demand services in 2014, so movies that aired on TV stations like Lifetime or the SyFy Channel this year, but never came out on DVD, BluRay, and VOD services yet, does not count for this. I want this as a list of movies that you could potentially pick up yourself or have easy access to legally obtaining. Likewise, some of these movies may have aired on TV in previous years, but didn't actually get released on home video formats or VOD until 2014, thus I count them as 2014 movies for that reason. REVIEW BY: Jeffrey Long Company:  The Collective Runtime: 116 mins Format: BluRay Plot: When a group of misfits is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for. Review: V/H/S is a horror anthology movie made up of 5 short stories and a bookend wrap-around story, all of which was made in the found footage style of film making. Like with all anthology movies, some entries were great while others...well, not so much. I'll start first with the main wrap-around story. It involves a group of trouble-making hooligans that video tape their crimes and potential attempted rapes and all that, and they get hired by a mystery man to break into this old guy's house and steal a VHS tape. While in there they come across a room filled with VHS tapes and start checking them out, which leads to the various short stories this movie is made of. I really hated this wrap-around story, ...
